Description

Hydraulic Measuring Stand with Switchable Magnetic Base | HG
The HG Hydraulic Magnetic Measuring Stand is built for inspection benches, surface plates, grinding machines, and machine tool setups. Press the central button and hydraulic pressure rigidly clamps every joint at once. One hand remains free for configuring the dial indicator. The dial indicator holder accepts dial and digital indicators with a shank diameter of 8 mm (0.3 in.) or a dovetail mount.

Two throat depths are available: 300 mm or 400 mm. Every stand ships with a size 1 dial indicator magnetic base (SKU 440868), and its powerful permanent magnet grips through both the flat back and the Vee sole. Jointed arms rotate 360 degrees at the holder and pivot through 180 degrees, and stepless adjustment lets you tune clamping force to the setup.

Key features:

  • Patented hydraulic mechanism: generates high clamping pressure while the hand wheel closes with only slight effort
  • Double-sealed oil hydraulics: two seals keep the system protected against oil leakage
  • Central one-hand operation: a single button locks the arm, keeping your other hand on the indicator
  • Mechanical fine adjustment: makes small, controlled position corrections when dialing in a reading
  • Two jointed arms: articulation at two arms positions the indicator over the measuring point

What does a hydraulic indicator stand do?
Rigid positioning is what a hydraulic measuring stand gives you, holding a dial or digital indicator over the workpiece at that setting while you measure.

Applications: comparative length measurement, part deviation checks during machine setup, spindle alignment, concentricity checks, flatness verification, runout inspection.
Industries: metrology services, quality control, toolmaking, precision machining, metalworking, maintenance and repair.
Users: metrology technicians, quality inspectors, machinists, toolmakers, maintenance technicians.

How does the switchable magnetic base work?
A rotary switch turns the magnetic force on and off. Switched on, the permanent magnet holds the magnetic base firmly to a ferrous surface. Switched off, the magnet releases so you can lift and reposition the stand without prying it loose. Because the magnet is permanent, the base holds without any power supply.

What does it take to get the indicator clamped and zeroed?
Clamp the indicator into the holder by its shank, 8 mm (0.3 in.) in diameter, or by its dovetail, then bring the contact point square to the workpiece on this measuring stand before you zero the display and take the reading.

Can a hydraulic stand tolerate temperature changes?
Yes, and the limit depends on whether the clamp is open or closed. Left open, the stand withstands large temperature fluctuations, though the oil then needs a short time to reach an even temperature. When the clamp is closed, the maximum fluctuation in temperature without major fluctuations in pressure is 15 °C. Larger swings can lead to damage to the stand or to the object that is clamped.

Note:
Hydraulic measuring stands can withstand large fluctuations in temperature when the clamp is open. However, a certain time is required for the temperature of the oil to equalize. When the clamp is closed the maximum fluctuation in temperature without major fluctuations in pressure is 15 °C. These can lead to damage to the stand or to the object that is clamped.
