Description

The HOLEX Hexagon socket, 1/4 inch deep, a metric range of deep sockets from HOLEX, reaches fasteners that sit too far down for standard-length sockets. Ten sizes from 5 to 13 mm run on a 1/4 inch square drive, covering machine maintenance, automotive service, assembly lines, and general equipment repair.
Each size is forged from high quality chrome vanadium steel and finished with chrome plating, and the opening is internally beveled for easy fitting onto bolt heads. Standards behind the geometry are DIN 3124-L for the 6 point socket profile and DIN 3120 D 6.3 for the square drive hole. All ten metric steps between those limits are listed for selection here.

Key features:
• Hand socket design: made for hand-driven work with ratchets and handles.
• Reference length for the 5 mm size: 50 mm (2.0 in.) overall, with width across flats and external diameter for every size listed in the table.
• Individual sizes: each socket sells on its own, so you can cover just the metric sizes your work calls for or replace a missing one.

Specifications by model:
Width across flats External diameter
5 mm (0.2 in.) 8.1 mm (0.32 in.)
5.5 mm (0.22 in.) 8.7 mm (0.34 in.)
6 mm (0.24 in.) 9.3 mm (0.37 in.)
7 mm (0.28 in.) 10.8 mm (0.43 in.)
8 mm (0.31 in.) 11.9 mm (0.47 in.)
9 mm (0.35 in.) 13.4 mm (0.53 in.)
10 mm (0.39 in.) 14.5 mm (0.57 in.)
11 mm (0.43 in.) 15.9 mm (0.63 in.)
12 mm (0.47 in.) 16.9 mm (0.67 in.)
13 mm (0.51 in.) 18 mm (0.71 in.)

Where do deep sockets outperform standard length ones?
Deep sockets keep full engagement on nuts running down long bolts and studs, work that a standard socket cannot seat on.
Applications: recessed fastener removal, stud and long-bolt service, machine repair, equipment assembly, automotive fastening, fixture bolting.
Industries: automotive service, machinery maintenance, general manufacturing, equipment repair shops.
Users: mechanics, maintenance technicians, assemblers, machine repair specialists.

What is a deep well socket used for in daily work?
A deep well socket reaches a nut after the bolt thread has passed through it, the situation that stops a standard socket from seating. The extra internal depth accepts the protruding thread, so the hex faces still engage fully on long studs and threaded rod.

Why choose a 6 point deep socket over a 12 point?
A 6 point deep socket matches the six flats of a hex fastener directly, letting you apply force against the faces rather than the corners. This HOLEX line uses that hexagon profile on every size, pairing it with the deep format for recessed fasteners.

Are deep well sockets available here in metric sizes only?
Yes, these deep well sockets are metric, and the ten sizes span 5 through 13 mm. Width across flats is the dimension marked on each socket, so pick the socket that matches the metric nut size instead of a near Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) inch equivalent.
